BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two Baton Rouge shelters will put their cold-weather plans in place as temperatures are expected to plunge Sunday night, the mayor’s office confirmed.
A representative from Mayor-President Sid Edwards’ office said St. Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army will be open and could increase bed space as needed. Libraries and community centers will be open during business hours to serve as warming centers for people.
The National Weather Service of New Orleans/Baton Rouge said a cold weather advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday.
