Letters: Using military to stop drug boats ought to be lauded, not criticized

For years, we have heard about the need to stop the flow of illegal drugs across our borders and have seen very little action to stop this. In recent years, the drugs have gotten more potent and are having a devastating effect on our youth.

We finally have a leader who is taking action to eliminate or greatly reduce this scourge on our society, and what we hear about is elected officials complaining about killing the smugglers on these boats.

In my mind, if there were survivors clinging to wreckage, there were probably also drugs remaining in the wreckage, and it needed to be destroyed. I don’t really feel too much sympathy for any survivors of the initial attack, except maybe they chose the wrong people to hang around with…
