‘I’ll kill you’: Shootout involving City of Baton Rouge employee ends with man facing multiple charges

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A City of Baton Rouge employee is accused of taking part in a shootout on Nov. 10, 2025.

Terry Hayes, 62, was charged with attempted second-degree murder, possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.

The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a call about shots fired around 10:15 a.m.

BRPD said that several 911 calls stated that there was a shootout between city-parish employees. Officers arrived at the scene and found a work crew and their supervisor. At first, the supervisor said they knew nothing about a shooting and did not want to cooperate, according to BRPD…
