Man sentenced to 15 years in Hanks Drive shooting that left one dead

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man previously charged with second-degree murder in a deadly shooting on Hanks Drive has now been sentenced to 15 years in prison after the charge was reduced.

Tyrus Watson, 21, was sentenced after the second-degree murder charge was amended to manslaughter. Court records show Watson will serve 15 years at hard labor while in custody of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

The court ordered the sentence be served without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. Watson will receive credit for time already served.
