BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Woman’s Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2026 just after midnight.

Baby Blossom was born at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, marking the hospital’s first delivery of the year. Proud parents Gabrielle and Gerard welcomed their baby girl. She weighed 6 pounds, 3.8 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Hospital officials said both mother and baby are doing well.

With about 8,000 babies born each year at Woman’s, hospital leaders said Baby Blossom is just the first of many special arrivals expected in 2026.
