Convent man wanted in East Baton Rouge on home invasion charge arrested in another parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Convent man wanted on charges out of East Baton Rouge Parish was arrested on New Year’s Day in Assumption Parish after a traffic stop.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said Gerald Bougere, 33, was arrested after being stopped by a uniformed patrol deputy for traffic violations near Paincourtville. The deputy learned that Bougere was wanted on charges of home invasion and second-degree battery in East Baton Rouge Parish.

A gun was seized after a search of his car. Deputies stated that Bougere was not allowed to have a gun since he is a convicted felon.

Bougere was booked into jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, no driver’s license, speeding and fugitive. His bond was set at $10,000…
