Woman arrested, accused of bringing drugs into Dixon Correctional Institute

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A visitor at the Dixon Correctional Institute was arrested on Saturday after being accused of bringing drugs into the prison.

According to the Department of Corrections, Alaisia Escort was walking through the body scan machine when a concerning image appeared. Officials searched Escort’s car and purse, leading to DOC employees finding four grams of synthetic cannabinoids and two grams of marijuana.

“The department’s ongoing efforts to find and fight contraband occur during every visitation,” said Dustin Bickham, warden of Dixon Correctional Institute. “Attempts to introduce any kind of contraband or amount is illegal.”…
