An ambitious project to extend Jones Creek Road to Airline Highway has moved from right-of-way acquisition to boots on the ground, with work underway to clear trees and brush now growing in the path, an East Baton Rouge Parish official said.
The clearing of the wooded property between Tiger Bend Road and Jefferson Highway began in December and will be followed by the placement of soil to fill low places.
The dirt fill will be compacted and allowed to settle, all engineered to not impede the flow of rainwater, before construction of the new four-lane stretch of Jones Creek Road to Jefferson Highway, and then to Airline Highway, begins, said Fred Raiford, director of transportation and drainage for the parish…
