Flood Watch issued for south Louisiana as severe storm threat grows Friday

BATON ROUGE — A Flood Watch is now in effect across much of south Louisiana as multiple rounds of storms are expected to move through the region from Friday morning through early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with isolated areas potentially seeing more than 6 inches if storms repeatedly track over the same locations.

Forecasters warn that the combination of heavy rainfall rates, possibly 1 to 3 inches per hour, could lead to isolated flash flooding.
