Neighbors push back against proposed liquor license along Plank Road

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A proposal to grant a permanent liquor license to a North Baton Rouge business is facing opposition from nearby residents who say the area is already oversaturated with alcohol retailers.

The Baton Rouge Alcoholic Beverage Control Board recently voted to extend a temporary liquor license for Neighborhood Market & Deli on Plank Road for another month. The board is expected to revisit the issue in February, when members will decide whether to grant the business a permanent license.

Some residents who live near the business say allowing another store to sell liquor would worsen existing problems in the community…
