Baton Rouge gears up for Human Trafficking Awareness 5K: Shining a light on a hidden crisis

BATON ROUGE — This Saturday, January 10, 2026, Louisiana State Police Association will host a Human Trafficking Awareness 5K Run & Walk in downtown Baton Rouge, uniting community members, law enforcement, survivors, and advocates in a powerful stand against human trafficking.

The event comes during Human Trafficking Prevention Awareness Month, recently declared in Louisiana by Governor Jeff Landry, reinforcing the state’s commitment to awareness, prevention, and support for survivors.

The race — with an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K beginning at 10 a.m. — is open to all ages and fitness levels. (The time of race did change due to expected weather in the morning.) For a $30 registration fee, every participant will receive a race bib and commemorative t-shirt.
