BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – New body camera video obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM shows that a Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) officer appears to be holding a cell phone seconds before he collided with a cyclist in March 2025.
Officer Stefan Jones was traveling 83 miles per hour when he struck cyclist Dede Washington near the McKinley Alumni Center on Louise Street. The speed limit for the area is around 25 mph.
Jones was responding to a call for an officer in need of help at the time of the crash…
