Spanish Town blighted homes face historic preservation requirements

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Three deteriorating homes in Spanish Town have sparked neighborhood complaints about blight and concerns over potential declining property values.

The houses show cracking stucco, old and rotting wood, and crumbling trim. Gregg Bailey, a member of the Historic Spanish Town Civic Association, said the homes have been problematic for five years.

“These are three of the worst of the worst, and they’ve been a problem for five years,” Bailey said. “Neighbors are concerned just about the looks of it and the issues with property values when you have a house next to your house just falling down.”…
