Homeless man charged with arson after trash fire behind Aldi’s in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A homeless man has been arrested and charged with simple arson following a trash fire behind Aldi’s earlier this week.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, crews responded to a reported trash fire behind a grocery store in the 9700 block of Cortana Place around 11:43 p.m. on Jan. 14.

Because the fire appeared suspicious, fire investigators were called to the scene. Investigators found that the fire was set on purpose. It caused about $500 in damage to a trash can, nearby cement, and a nearby building…
