House fire in Baton Rouge caused by discarded leaves

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) responded to a house fire Wednesday morning.

BRFD arrived at the 2300 block of Mississippi Street around 9:45 a.m. to find smoke and fire coming from the back of the home. All residents were safely outside the house when the first unit arrived.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, and they discovered the fire had been caused by discarded leaves that had reignited inside a trash can…
