Main Street Market celebrates grand reopening with week-long events

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Main Street Market will celebrate its grand reopening with events Feb. 2-7 featuring new vendors and programming in downtown Baton Rouge.

BREADA, the Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance, operates the market and announced the week-long celebration. The revitalized market space will showcase five new vendors and expanded opportunities for the community.

Main Street Market has served as a gathering place for community, culture, and local food in downtown Baton Rouge. The market has incubated small food businesses, increased awareness of local fresh foods and created a space for residents, workers and visitors.

New vendors and programming

The five new vendors are River & Roots Market, The Cozy Griddle, Sapor: Indian Fusion, Vivian’s Rotisserie & Grill and Louisiana Creole Creations.

The grand reopening will feature a punch card promotion starting Monday, Feb. 2. Guests who order from all five vendors between Feb. 2-7 will receive BREADA merchandise and be entered to win a prize. Completed punch cards can be redeemed at River and Roots Market.

BREADA will host a formal ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will feature remarks and refreshments with community partners, city leaders and supporters.

Week-long events

Wednesday, Feb. 4 will feature Wellness Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. BREADA’s Nutrition Education Manager Nick Bennett will lead cooking demonstrations in the Teaching Kitchen during lunch, rotating every 30 minutes from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. BREADA Board Member Tracy Morganti will lead a lunchtime yoga session at noon. Participants should bring their own yoga mat.
