Virtual classes, school closures and office shutdowns announced due to winter event

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – School systems and universities across Louisiana are adjusting operations ahead of expected inclement weather on Monday, January 26, with more announcements expected.

Schools and universities shifting to virtual learning Monday include:

  • Louisiana State University (LSU) – Physical campus will be closed. Classes will continue in a format determined by each instructor.
  • Baker Schools – Remote learning
  • East Baton Rouge Parish School System
  • Asynchronous virtual learning day
  • Teachers will provide assignments and learning activities for students to complete at home
  • District officials say they will continue monitoring weather conditions and provide updates
  • Southern University and A&M College
  • Remote learning for Monday
  • Includes:
  • Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center
  • Southern University Law Center
  • Southern University Laboratory School
  • Campus dining services will remain open in Dunn Hall from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Normal operations are expected to resume Tuesday, January 27
  • University Laboratory School – Closed Monday
