Couple faces theft charges in Baton Rouge bus system investigation

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two more people were indicted in connection with a theft investigation into the Capital Area Transportation System (CATS).

In an affidavit, investigators with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation were notified of allegations involving bribes to public officials to influence CATS procurement contracts and secure government funding.

Former CATS Chief Administrative Officer Pearlina Thomas held a position that allowed her to influence CATS contracts. It should be noted that contracts of $50,000 or less did not require CATS Board approval…
