Baton Rouge escapes heavy impacts from Sunday winter weather

Baton Rouge weathered the weekend’s winter storm well overall, the National Weather Service said.

“The event for the city was fairly low impact,” Rob Frye, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said Monday morning. The winter weather advisory was set to end at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Just further north, however, in Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana parishes, ice of up to a quarter-inch thick formed on power lines and tree limbs, Frye said…
