Pilot Club of Denham Springs expands inclusive playgrounds across Livingston Parish

DENHAM SPRINGS — For more than 60 years, the Pilot Club of Denham Springs has quietly worked behind the scenes to uplift families, support caretakers, and create opportunities for people with disabilities. Now, the organization is making a visible and lasting impact across Livingston Parish, one playground at a time.

Amanda McMorris, President-elect of the Pilot Club of Denham Springs, says inclusive play is central to the club’s mission.

“Our organization is a service organization. We’ve been in Denham Springs for 60 years,” McMorris said. “Our focus is helping people with disabilities, children and adults, and providing youth leadership skills and supporting people who care for others—for caretakers.”

Addressing a Critical Need in Parish Schools

Recognizing the lack of accessible playground equipment in Livingston Parish schools, the Pilot Club launched a long-term initiative to ensure children of all abilities can safely play alongside their peers.
