BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A Baton Rouge homeowner says the city demolished his childhood home last November despite assurances from officials that his renovation permit was being processed.
Bobby Greene grew up in the house on Duke Street and lived there until he got married. The house began to deteriorate over time, drawing blight violations from the city-parish in 2024. Greene was determined to remodel and avoid demolition.
“All that bad wood I was going to take out and replace,” Greene said.
Permit application and city requirements
Greene sent renovation plans to the city permitting office in late 2024 after the city said the home needed a new floor and roof, among other repairs, to be brought up to code. Greene says he spent over $700 for the permit application…
