BATON ROUGE — An entire year has passed since La’Tasha Thomas was shot and killed on Plank Road in Baton Rouge — one year since an 8-year-old boy watched his grandmother die in front of him, and one year since a family’s life was permanently altered by violence.
For her family, the pain has not eased with time.
“Nothing has really changed,” said Khadijah Woods. “We’re all still heartbroken, and we feel like the justice system failed us.”
How It All Began
The tragedy unfolded on January 19, 2025, beginning with the theft of a rental car from Thomas’ driveway as the family prepared to celebrate a birthday brunch. While waiting for police to arrive, Thomas left with her grandson to go to the store…
