Alase Breaks School Record, Again

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Just one week after setting the school record in the 60-meter hurdles, Tashina Alase raised the bar once again Friday at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational inside the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Alase clocked an 8.08 in the 60m hurdles preliminaries, improving her own school record by nearly a tenth of a second. The performance ranks as the eighth-fastest time nationally this season. She also added a fourth-place finish in the women’s 60 meters and placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.40.

Southern’s sprinters turned in strong showings throughout the meet. Kaden Lewis captured first place in the men’s 60m finals, crossing the line in 6.86, while Omari Dupas followed with a fifth-place finish in 6.92. On the women’s side, Jayla Franklin placed ninth, and Kendall Cook finished 14th in the 60 meters…
