20-year-old arrested after ‘accidentally’ fatally shooting friend in parking garage, officials say

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A 20-year-old was taken into custody in connection with a deadly shooting in a parking garage on Monday night, Feb. 9.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Chad Howard, 20, on charges of negligent homicide, possession of stolen things, and obstruction of justice.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on the second floor of the parking garage located at 10,000 Perkins Rowe.

Deputies said Caleb Carter, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.
