A new Vietnamese bakery and restaurant on Coursey Boulevard is serving banh mi on bread from famed New Orleans bakery Dong Phuong and plans to begin baking its own loaves this spring, along with Vietnamese cakes, cupcakes and cheesecakes.
Viet Restaurant & Bakery, located at 11445 Coursey Blvd., serves banh mi, pho, rice plates, vermicelli bowls and appetizers. Manager Huy Nguyen said the menu will expand in March with dishes such as chicken fried rice, fried chicken, lo mein and desserts.
The banh mi lineup includes classics like grilled pork and meatball alongside less common options such as braised beef offal and shaking beef.
Each sandwich is made with buttered bread and all the veggies — carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, cilantro and white radish. The restaurant plans to begin baking its own bread in March once equipment arrives…
