Krewe of Orion parades ‘Famous Hollywood Faces’ around River Center at 27th annual masquerade

With the theme “Famous Hollywood Faces,” the Krewe of Orion celebrated its 27th annual parade and masquerade on Feb. 7 at the Raising Cane’s River Center, Baton Rouge.

The evening featured elaborate floats, royalty and cinematic flair. Founded in 1998, the krewe continued its long-standing Mardi Gras tradition with a high-energy event showcasing both new and returning designs.

The parade opened with the captain’s float, led by Krewe Captain Darren Coates and President Charles Harvey, featuring a double-decker design with LED displays and a sound system. Last year’s royalty followed, honoring the 2025 theme, “A Visit to the Easy.”

The maids of Orion portrayed iconic characters: Gianna Lea Purpera representing “Zorro,” Kailie Elizabeth Blythe as “The Joker,” and Allyson Camille Yerby as “The Phantom of the Opera.”…
