Boy diagnosed with cancer sworn in as member of East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A 13-year-old boy from Houston has been sworn in as a member of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.

The boy, Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, 13, received his official commission and his very own EBRSO uniform from Sheriff Sid Gautreaux.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, doctors diagnosed the boy with brain and spinal cancer in 2018 and gave him months to live. He has since undergone multiple surgeries and has traveled the country to fulfill his dream of being sworn into 1000 law enforcement agencies…
