Demand for hormone replacement therapy outpaces supply at pharmacies nationwide

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Women across the country are walking into pharmacies to fill estrogen patch prescriptions and finding empty shelves.

Marci Longnecker, office coordinator at Dr. Gunjan Raina’s clinic, is also a patient there. When she started working at the clinic two years ago, she was experiencing fatigue and other menopausal symptoms. Bloodwork revealed her hormone levels were low.

“That is when we found out that those levels, progesterone and estrogen, as well as the testosterone, were lower than what they should be,” Longnecker said…
