Mother launches nonprofit in daughter’s name to help other families

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Devon Blanchard lost her 3-year-old daughter, Taryn, to a seizure about three weeks ago. Now, she has created a nonprofit in Taryn’s name to help cover the cost of intensive therapy sessions for other children with similar conditions.

Taryn was born with a rare genetic epilepsy disorder that caused developmental delays and other health issues. She was non-verbal and attended physical, occupational, and speech therapy five days a week.

“She was a bright light. Every person who ever met her loved her,” Blanchard said.
