Machu Kroeng from Sambath’s Donuts & Khmer Cuisine

It was lunchtime, and I was holding onto the last cold-weather day until high 70s took over. At Sambath’s Donuts & Khmer Cuisine, the owner recommended I try the Machu Kroeung, which is a lemongrass soup with beef and vegetables.

The soup came hot, temperature and spice-wise, perfect for the cold weather. The bowl had pieces of beef, onion, chili pepper, celery, water spinach and watercress. It was served with rice and a spicy fish oil with Thai chili. It hit the spot.

This was my first taste of Cambodian food, so I’m excited to go back and try more of the menu items…
