Pedestrian killed in East Baton Rouge crash involving off-duty deputy, sheriff says

A pedestrian died after being struck on Hooper Road Tuesday night when he stepped in front of a vehicle driven by an off-duty East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputy, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. on Hooper near Plank Road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
