Man accused of brazen, daytime rape of a 94-year-old allegedly caught on camera stalking another woman days before

A Baton Rouge case that was already shocking on its own has taken an even darker turn after new reporting suggested the man accused in the daytime rape of a 94-year-old woman may have been following another woman on camera just days earlier.

In a report for the WBRZ Investigative Unit, Bess Casserleigh said police arrested 22-year-old Jeremiah Taylor after the elderly victim was attacked in the driveway of her home on East Black Oak Drive. The arrest warrant, as described in Casserleigh’s report, says the woman had been sitting on her front porch when Taylor approached, and that security video and other evidence now form what the station called an overwhelming case against him.

The attack itself was so disturbing that Baton Rouge Police Chief T.J. Morse told WBRZ he struggled to find the right words for it, calling it a horrendous act. That reaction feels understandable. Crimes against elderly victims already hit people in a different place, and the fact that this one allegedly happened in broad daylight outside the woman’s own home only adds to the sense of violation…
