After finding itself on the wrong side of an upset to Texas State, No. 16 Texas A&M softball got back in the win column in its Southeastern Conference opener versus No. 17 LSU, 7-1.
The Aggies toppled the Tigers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, despite being without three seniors: infielder Micaela Wark, catcher Gracyn Coleman and left-handed pitcher Taylor Pannell. The trio did not dress for Game 1 due to a reported violation of team rules. Wark was the most significant contributor for the Maroon and White with 10 home runs to go along with a club best 34 RBIs.
One name A&M could count on was sophomore right-handed pitcher Syndey Lessentine, who lasted four innings, surrendering just two hits, one walk and one run. The same could not be said for LSU and sophomore LHP Jayden Heavener, as she struggled to find the strike zone all evening.
