A 50 year-old Baton Rouge Catholic church renews its spirit with renovation. See what’s changing.

The parishioners of Baton Rouge’s St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Ln. in Baton Rouge, have waited a long time for a church refresh.

This year, all of their efforts are coming to fruition.

Founded in 1974, St. Patrick Parish was established as more people moved into southeast Baton Rouge. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge took territory from St. Thomas More and St. George Parishes to create a spiritual home for about 450 families.

By 1975, St. Patrick Church multiplied to over 850 families, and it was dedicated by Bishop Joseph Sullivan in January of 1978. A large bronze statue of St. Patrick, known as the patron saint and “apostle of Ireland” who brought Christianity to the country in the 5th century, greets visitors as they approach the building…
