Baton Rouge bakery serves unique ‘prayer cakes’

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge bakery is turning faith into something tangible with its unique “original prayer cakes.”

The idea was born from Tina Devall, a customer of Smallcakes Baton Rouge, during a difficult season in her life, when prayer became a source of comfort and strength. Devall took the idea to the owner of the bakery, Cami Veasman, and it has been a hit with the community.

Each original prayer cake is prepared in the shape of a cross, comes with the bakery’s signature heavenly creme cheese filling, paired with a meaningful scripture and includes a mini Jesus figure. The cakes can be given to someone for any occasion, such as an illness, loss, a new home or the birth of a new baby…
