High speed, multi-parish chase ends with arrest of convicted felon, seizure of drugs

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A suspect was arrested after an early morning chase that ended in St. Helena Parish on Wednesday, March 25.

Michael Carney, 41, faces several charges, including:

  • aggravated flight from an officer
  • manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule I
  • manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule II
  • theft of a motor vehicle
  • possession of a firearm by a felon
  • obstruction of justice – evidence tampering
  • resisting an officer
  • illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance
  • possession of drug paraphernalia

A Baton Rouge Police Department officer responded to a call about shots being fired around 2 a.m. at 4708 Tigerland Avenue

When the officer got to the parking lot, they found a man and a woman inside the vehicle. The woman got out when asked and the man partially got out of the vehicle before going back inside and quickly leaving the scene…
