Baton Rouge shooting highlights dangers of online marketplace meetups

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after being shot in the backseat of a stranger’s vehicle at an apartment complex off Coursey Boulevard Thursday night.

Investigators with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said the shooter stole the victim’s property and fled the scene shortly after the incident.

Authorities said the two people met on social media to arrange a meetup before the shooting. The purpose of that meetup was to sell items.
