A state highway may soon be named for a band whose roots date back to the 1960s in Iberville and Pointe Coupee parishes, while another highway will pay homage to a legendary author.
The Falcons — a band founded in the early 1960s in Valverda, just outside of Maringouin — already have gained the distinction for a stretch of La. 977 to be named in their honor.
