Man from Honduras pleads guilty to attempting to coerce minor in Denham Springs

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man from Honduras, who federal officials say is in the country illegally, pleaded guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.

Allegations against William Alexander Ruiz-Ponce, 28, included texting and using social media to coerce someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him.

According to the U.S. Attorney Kurt Wall, Ruiz-Ponce went to Denham Springs, where he believed the teen was from, and was met by an undercover law enforcement officer. He was arrested after arriving at the agreed-upon location. Ruiz-Ponce allegedly sent sexually explicit images of himself to the undercover officer…
