BAKER, La. (WAFB) -A Baker woman was charged with several counts of child desertion and cruelty to juveniles after officers found her children left unsupervised in a home they described as “deplorable.”
Officers investigated complaints of several children being left alone at a home on Wilson Street, Sunday, March 29, according to a criminal warrant filed in the 19th Judicial District.
According to the warrant, Brianna Carpenter, 31, told officers she was at work while a neighbor was watching the children. That story was disproven when the neighbor told officers they were not keeping an eye on the children, the warrant states.
When confronted again by the officers, Carpenter told them that she would not return to the home because she did not want to be arrested, according to the warrant.
