Louisiana wildlife attraction Magnolia Wilds shifting to sanctuary, ending close-up animal experiences

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Louisiana animal park known for its hands-on wildlife encounters says it is transitioning into a nonprofit animal sanctuary. The move will eventually end direct contact experiences with animals.

Magnolia Wilds shared on Facebook that it is “leveling up.” It’s moving from a private animal park to a nonprofit sanctuary. The goal is to give permanent homes to its resident animals.

As part of the transition, Magnolia Wilds said it plans to move toward a standard “no-contact” policy, meaning guests will no longer be allowed to participate in close-up animal encounters in the future…
