Man arrested after attacking paramedic during ambulance transport

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man was arrested last Wednesday after he attacked a paramedic during an ambulance transport, according to Baton Rouge police.

Kenneth Armstrong, 55, was charged with battery of emergency room personnel, emergency services personnel or a healthcare professional and resisting an officer.

East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services responded to Florida Boulevard and North Beck Street at 8:24 p.m. in reference to a medical call, police said. After evaluating Armstrong, the crew determined he needed further medical intervention and began transporting him to an area hospital.

While en route, Armstrong’s position on the stretcher prompted the paramedic to call her partner to prevent Armstrong from falling off, according to police. Once stopped, Armstrong grabbed the paramedic by her neck and began throwing her across his body over and over again by her neck, police said…
