Seattle council members push back on Mayor Wilson’s plan to double transit sales tax

SEATTLE — Two Seattle City Council members are signaling concerns about Mayor Katie Wilson’s proposal to double the city’s transit sales tax, saying the plan requires closer scrutiny before moving forward.

During a council briefing, Budget Chair Dan Strauss said he supports transit investments but questioned whether the proposal adequately addresses service gaps in neighborhoods such as Ballard.

“I’m concerned that Metro is not serving Ballard. I’m concerned that Sound Transit is not serving Ballard. I’m concerned that this proposal, as transmitted, is not serving Ballard,” Strauss said…
