Questions emerge as Seattle’s newest shelter opens with 15 residents

SEATTLE — Seattle’s newest homeless housing facility opened with promises of expanding shelter capacity for people experiencing chronic homelessness, but questions are emerging about why most of its units remain unoccupied a week after opening.

About 15 people are currently living at the Bayside Enhanced Shelter, which began operations on June 9 in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood.
