Search for missing swimmer in Lake Washington shifts to recovery, Kirkland responders say

SEATTLE — A search and rescue operation near Holmes Point early Saturday transitioned into a recovery effort after a man who entered the water from a boat failed to resurface, authorities said.

Kirkland Police responded to the incident at about 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man swimming with friends offshore had entered the water and did not come back to the surface.

Kirkland Fire divers immediately began searching the area where the man was last seen. The search continued for more than an hour and involved Kirkland Fire personnel, Seattle Harbor Patrol and drone resources…
