King County Homelessness Up 26% Despite Spending Billions

More than two decades after King County launched its ambitious Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness, the region is experiencing the highest levels of homelessness in its history.

Newly released data from the 2026 Point-in-Time Count shows homelessness in King County continued to increase, albeit at a slower pace than in recent years. The findings come after years of record taxpayer spending on homelessness programs, behavioral-health initiatives, supportive housing projects, and regional homelessness bureaucracy.
