SEATTLE — A 47-year-old man was arrested early Saturday after police said he impersonated a Seattle City Light employee while attempting to steal copper wire from the West Seattle Bridge, Seattle police (SPD) said.
An officer conducting a proactive DUI patrol at about 1:16 a.m. spotted a man standing on the narrow shoulder of the bridge’s westbound lanes looking toward the water.
Concerned that the man might be attempting suicide, the officer circled back for a closer look and saw him rolling up what appeared to be wire, according to SPD.
