Vivint is one of several leading national video and security companies who provide cameras, alarms and other tools to help citizens protect homes and businesses. WA State customer data not known, but they have 2 million national ‘members,’ and 27 million properties have Vivint security systems.
Now, a new study shows which states are the worst for nighttime burglaries
Vivint, using 2024 data and beyond, has released the results of which states and cities have the most nighttime property crimes. It should come as no surprise that Seattle ranks #1 on the list. These are residential and business break-ins combined.

The data shows Seattle experiences 234 break-ins or burglaries for every 100K of poopulation Spokane came in third, with 61.1 per every 100K. Cleveland, OH was in the ‘bottom’ 3 as well.
The Safest Cities?
Frisco, TX, Irvine, CA and Gilbert, AZ are the ‘safest’ cities according to the study. As for states, WA ranks 2nd worst behind North Dakota (!), along with South Carolina, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
The Safest States?
The states with the lowest rates of burglaries, per 100K of population are New Hampshire, Hawaii, Vermont, and Maine, while Idaho comes in 7th safest. Oregon, and Portland did not make any of the Top or Bottom 10 lists either way.
Keep in mind these are property crimes, there are communities with far higher violent crimes–which include murder, assault, sexual assault-rape and other crimes against persons. This burglary data analyzed incidents that occurred between the hours of 10 PM and 6 AM, much like how FBI Crime Data is compiled.
