Labor Day weekend is a traditionally busy musical weekend in Washington state. Plenty of indie-leaning music fans flock to the Emerald City to attend Bumbershoot at Seattle Center. Others make the trek to the center of the state to catch Dave Matthews Band’s annual residency at The Gorge. But for Inland Northwest country fans in-the-know there’s only one hotspot destination — a farm in Colville.
Since 2019, the FarmJam music festival has brought up-and-coming country artists to Greg Knight’s family farm for a weekend of lower-key music loving. For most of the year the almost 100-acre farm is dedicated to growing hay, pumpkins and corn. But after years of eventizing the farm with a corn maze and pumpkin patch, Knight added a fall festival that included a Saturday of acoustic music from Spokane artists. FarmJam grew from there.
“We had that tradition of just the corn maze and pumpkin patch in the fall in place for probably eight or nine years, and then we just expanded out and decided, ‘Hey, let’s do a festival,’ and we started planning,” Knight says. “And by the time we were done planning, it was three days of music and camping. It ended up bigger than the concept.”…
