Seattle’s public housing agency has identified 898 units it may pursue for demolition, disposition, or redevelopment — a scale of potential change that could ripple across several Seattle communities and trigger relocation planning for current residents.
The Seattle Housing Authority’s draft 2027 Moving to Work Annual Plan lists five properties as candidates for removal or repositioning. The plan is open for public comment through September 30, giving residents and neighbors a narrow window to weigh in before it goes to SHA’s Board of Commissioners for approval.
Importantly, this is not a finalized teardown list. The plan states SHA “may seek HUD approval” for demolition and/or disposition at each property — meaning federal approvals, financing arrangements, and relocation planning would all come later.
